Patrice Herrera is a board-certified Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner, emergency, and trauma nurse. She has spent over 20 years caring for people in physical and mental health crises. Herrera works extensively with active-duty military, veterans, emergency medical services, fire, and police personnel, as well as other Emergency Medical Professionals (physicians, nurses, NPs). Herrera began her career as an EMT in the late 1990’s and went on to become a paramedic in 2001. In 2005, Herrera continued her education graduating from Grand View University with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing, later receiving her Master of Science Degree in Nursing in 2009 from University of Phoenix. Herrera turned her passion for trauma and psychiatric care into becoming a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner in 2023 from the Walden University Psychiatric and Mental Health Nurse Practitioner Program. She did her clinical rotations with University of Colorado Health Memorial Central in Colorado Springs, Colorado. She worked in the same location as a trauma, psychiatric, and critical care transport nurse. Patrice finished her rotations at a private clinic in Colorado and at the Des Moines Veteran’s Administration Hospital under experienced guidance and leadership.
